The grid is a merge of FRANCE and ITALY grid download on EEA website. According to EEA: "The grid is based on the recommendation at the 1st European Workshop on Reference Grids in 2003 and later INSPIRE geographical grid systems." The grid covers Pelagos Sanctuary (MPA) plus 15km buffer, with a 1km cell resolution. The reference grid is based on ETRS89 Lambert Azimuthal Equal Area projection.
